While this Poppy looks like it's fought off opium traffickers, I think it's just lonesome, growing up by itself, with all that greenery and no sunlight.

I like the title for this lovely posting Doug, I need to pay a visit to the Calendar gardens, hopefully tomorrow. Good color capture, and this is one of those that can be hard to get so well. Tigs♥ =^..^=

Wow, Doug...

The detail on this beauty is impeccable. This lonely poppy shows the infinite simplicity and complexity of Mother Nature at her finest. As always the composition is perfect as nearly as my untrained eye (let's say "eye in training") can tell. The variety of shades of orange is spectacular.

I can't tell for sure, but I don't think you used a flash on this shot. That's pretty nice work if there was little sunlight. I see some noise on the greenery to the left of the bloom. I might suggest that you run this through the HD filter a couple of times. The noise will be deafening, but what fun you'll have. LOL

An interesting find hidden in the deep grass. Good colours and shading in the flower. The photo seems rather flat in comparison to your lily photo.
