This is Max, my first Black Lab, after moving to Buck Lake. And this is his first trip to White Sands, New Mexico. I think he thought it was snow till he realized he didn't sink in it. The same texture as sand, it is actually Gypsum from sedimentary rock, in the canyons behind those mountains.

Doug, I think this is most impressive, A feeling of being alone, and Max's shadow with the details of the gypsum, all come together so well. Tigs♥ =^..^=

Like the Lab have a blond Lab myself and must say a great picture would have done a crop on the left and top make the dog stand out more but thats nit picking as is very very good.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

An outstanding image, Doug. Nice lighting in the scene and DoF. I like the patterns in the gypsum.

Stark in black and white, isn't it? Would love to have seen Max's shadow from right above him about 20 feet. Reminds me of that camel picture in the desert. We are looking at the camels' shadows and not the camels themselves. It was in Nat. Geo. Nicely done, Doug. I love the patterns in the sand.

Doug - Max and his shadow are like a silhouette on the white sand with its wind-blown textures. Well done! Thad

A unique photo Doug. Max in silhouette looks alert and ready to explore. I like the long shadow.
Perfectly composed - love it!

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
