Mrs Turtle has spent over three hours at this point, calmly preparing the underground incubator, and depositing numerous eggs. It's quite sandy along the edge of this road, so she had an easy time digging the pit. This image is about 20% of the full frame. I stayed about 15 feet away, though she never even glanced up at the occasional vehicle. Just thought it was worth seeing the intense concentration in her eye.

Cool pose she struck for you.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

She has a Darth Vader look to her, not a creature to mess with. The eye makes a very strong center of interest. Good details and clear focus.

It's been so long since I've seen one of these in the wild I almost forgot what they looked like. A good capture of the turtle, Doug. Nice details and textures in the photo.

Don't think I'd want to mess around with her, but you took a great photo.

Haha. I see "lady in waiting" and I'm expecting something beatiful like a flower or butterfly. Haha. :) Everything is beautiful in it's own way, though.
