This is from a 56 year old 35mm Film Negative, and thought it a fair example of the tonal range available, over half a century ago. The skyline is of Detroit, Michigan. U.S.A. from Windsor, Ontario. Canada...just across the river. Between the pure black of the foreground and the pure white of the snow, visually , every other image is represented in different tones of grey...and on a relatively overcast day.

It is eye catching alright. Super contrast with the ice flow and bridge. We see this on the Mississippi in the Spring, it's quite a sight. Great photo.
