several weeks ago during a winter storm the "bones" of an old shipwreck washed up on the outer beach at wellfleet, which is a thing that happens from time to time on cape cod.... dozens of ships of all kinds have foundered and gone down in gales and nor'easters because of the shoals, shifting sandbars and cross currents just offshore... I finally trucked myself downcape and trudged a quarter mile south of newcomb hollow beach to see it for myself.... it's best to go during low tide since the atlantic ocean often slams up against these cliffs during winter weather, and they erode at the rate of about three feet per year...
