I finally got a new lens... (AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm) and whole new areas are opening up in the landscape... I've been trying to sneak up on a crow for a long time without success, but I took this from my car window (I was parked at the time... ;-)) the second day out... the vibration reduction mode is a real life saver...

Mary, I envy you your new lens! What a great new piece of equipment and what fun you'll have playing with it (or is it just men who play with their new toys?). If it and you continue to take as good shots as these we'll all be happy.

Mary, excellent capture. I immediately thought of the Beatles when I saw this. Even though it is not a night shot, I loved the lyrics for it,

"Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise"

Marvelous close up Mary. This really shows great detail, colours and textures, like the softness of the background showing off this crow.

Congratulations on the new lens HF. This is a great opening shot with it. The clarity is stupendous. I too like the post of the old crow. I thought perhaps you had caught me on a log. lol.

Excellent post.
