Complexicated indeed! It's like a world inside a world. I love the various parts, and am especially interested in the lightning "strike" on the left hand side. Containing it within a bar creates an interesting image.

Very cool Dave, but I was wondering, could you lower the shine on the top of your jewel a hair ? To me, it kind of competes for attention, & takes attention away from your beautiful star in the bottom half of your jewel. Other than that, a terrific image !

Wow! Awesoem! It is very complexicated! I love the colors. I agree with Lauren about the shine on top of the jewel. Once you notice it, it stands out like a rose in a pumkin patch. Yours eyes are drawn to and fro across the picture. They're kept busy. A great desktop. Fantastic work!

As mum42 says, there are a number of aspects and parts of, that are standouts in their own way. A very accomplished image tieing in the various elements of your composition.
I particularly like the colour palette you have used and again, agreeing with mum42 ... the lightning strike in the side bar ... exceptional work there.
As a concept for an actual product? ... yeah, you are right ... your brother does have too too much time on his hands, lol.
p.s. Nice when the suggestions made in comments translate simply into a lowering of the opacity of a layer, eh? Hope you kept the original .psd file. ;o)
