The top part of the picture is good. Nice lighting with a good blue sky (so often I see pictures with a white washed out sky). The block at the bottom does rather spoil the image. However, that just means you have an excuse to go back and shoot some more. I like the varied skyline at the top. There is a nice selection of interesting buildings. Cities can give some wonderful images, look at the city category in the photography gallery on the left for some ideas. Glad you posted. It is always daunting when you start off pouting and let people make comments. Post more.
You did pick a tough shot. There's too much bulk in the near foreground, and you'd still have a tough time with a tilt/shift lens to correct all the perspectives. Architecture is quite a demanding art, and studying photographs can be a big help. Perfect perspective correction doesn't always produce the greatest impact, but knowing what to capture and what to leave out when you're composing is definitely a prerequisite.
You actually have a better shot with the left half cropped off, and then cropping from the bottom to just above that first light colored
stone strip. You'll still have to straighten the tallest building but it then gives you a progression of buildings going up from right to left, without all the bulk at the base drawing too much attention.
Being on the rooftop of a parking garage, I just couldn't find a good shot. But boy do I have a lot to learn. I think I intentionally left the buildings on the side in. But it probably wasn't a good idea considering they get cut off. Again, I love all the feedback!! :)
