I used a fairly strong zoom blur to strengthen the sun in the lower right corner by discovering how to adjust the center of the filter.

This is a good image in some ways, but I find the lack of subject matter distracting. In my opinion there needs to be something more in there.

I think by doing so you have lost alot of information from the shot. It is a really surreal shot and looks visually quite stricking. Maybe an area for development would be if you could play with the red, green & blue filters and play with the gamma to try and get rid of some of the blur in the main body of the shot. Still a good piece and thanks for showing it. Stay safe and well. Nik ;-)

P.S. If you did not know Adobe CS2 is on free download for 30 days and it has quite a bit of stuff you can play with. This is of course if you dont have it.

I agree with the others, this looks like a beautiful scene but there doesn't appear to be anything in focus. Taking pictures of just sky is difficult to begin with and I think you need to aim for something very crisp with at least something to focus on. Was the original photo out of focus or is that just something that the zoom blur did? (I've never used that tool)

Thanks, all, for the comments, and yes, all, I disagree. :-)

In my opinion, the subject is the sun, which makes the framing interesting. If you don't recognize the sun as a subject, I understand why the framing may seem pointless. As for the blurriness, I put it there. The original shot was in focus, but I wanted a soft feel, especially far away from the sun. The sun is fairly in focus while the rest just gets blurrier and blurrier. I played with the color filters a good deal and liked this the best because the grey needs to be grey, and if I change the color pallette, who wants a purple sun?

Thanks again, I will consider the masses when designing my next upload. :-)
