I'm gonna be hounding you now by pm now as it's very important a bugs life is protected from gardeners who think that poor little beasties should be put on trial for simply eating from the vegetable patch.

Animal rights protesters know where you live!! bricks will fly through your windows, and paint will be splashed on your walls, and the whole world will know your holding a poor little beasty against their will !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could avoid all this public shame, and aggravation, and simply replace him back in your vegetable patch where he can be free to eat whatever he chooses enjoying a good vegetarian diet, free at last from overlording gardeners who think they own the world.

Phil... there was a hearing and the caterpillar has been released. He was allowed to return to his home in the tomato garden along with his attorney Mr. Hopper. It was determined that he did not commit a crime because tomatoes are the natural food for this type of caterpillar. My error was putting temptation in his way.
