You know I've seen a ton of these images with these heavily-detailed, paisley-like thingamajobs (whatever they're called) and I've never like them much. I have no idea how they're crafted but they never seemed to have a purpose other than the repetition of a shape, and the ones I've seen too many of have too-strong, electric neon light rainbow colors -- they hurt my eyes. But you've done it again, Lori. I've been waiting several years for one I actually like and this one's it. The title you've chosen is apt, reminding me of baroque architecture, all gilt with gold leaf, as though one were in an ancient French cathedral, late at night, with only floor candelabra lighting up the gilt ceiling. You stare up out of your cowled wool robe and the atmosphere is redolent of incense. The science fiction fan in me also sees it as a giant, alien mechanical owl with those two huge eyes to the right, or possibly the intersection of several worm-holes in space (anyone remember Jody Foster in "Contact?"). Nice work, Chicago.

Oh wow! Exotic, mysterious and beautiful! I could never have seen all this on the crummy monitors at work. I'm glad I waited to see it at home. It was worth the wait too. I can only imagine what you think you saw here, Lori, but I see the hull of an exquisite ship, conch shells, eyes, spirals, runways and stairways to the stars, and very expensive gold jewelry. This one sure lets the imagination soar. I love it and I've saved it. You have such an amazing talent for these beautiful creations. Now, I hope you'll tell what you saw here.

It is a nightmare full of owl's eyes. And they're all staring at something behind your back: it's bad enough to find a bunch of eyes on your monitor, but when they see something you don't - lol. Stunning fractal, very interesting and of a good quality, and I absolutely love your color choice.

You have the golden touch down pat. The color gradient on this image is astounding. The work of a master.
