The colors on this bird are just gorgeous and you're right about this being an artists palette. There are so many colors I wouldn't know where to start. Very nice capture of this indeed unusual pheasant Ted.

Nice composure, Ted, and with the even lighting, it shows the bird well. I can't help but smile when I see this, though ... I ran a pet shop for many years, selling exotic birds that I trained - all very colorful and beautiful. A woman asked me once, "Do you have anything in earth tones?" :))) - Patty

Okay..yup..the colors are just crazy. I wish ppl would come in colors that brilliant :) Certainly would liven up the place a little more..lol...This is a wonderful shot ..composition is good and I need say nothing about the colors, but *chuckles* usually birds of this color look a little more exotic. And I'm just having a good time imagining that this is a rooster trying out a costume for Halloween..it's been a long day...lol....sorry :)))))PJ

Surely this is a manip?!?! If not, this is one of the wildest displays of color and texture I've ever seen in nature. The variety of hues, while beautiful, isn't what makes this bird so special to my eye, but rather, the incredible variety of textures and patterns in combination with the colors is what stuns me. Terrifc capture. Thanks for sharing.

I have 38 x Winsor & Newton Artist's Watercolour pigments in my palette. This amazing bird has 42... I know, coz I've counted and can name every one of them!

Superb shot, Ted and I echo Zyrogerg's comments. Glad you captured this chap against the Davey's Gray background, which really punches up the vibrancy of his colours.

I can't believe I know what this is, but it is a Golden Pheasant. A friend of mine owned a supper club for years called 'The Golden Pheasant' and one of these beauties was displayed on the wall in all it's glory! What a great shot Ted. They are truly gorgeous! Vicky

Where in the world did you find this? I had no idea birds like this existed. It's an artists palette alright and we know what artist it is, don't we. Marvelous capture and definitely a keeper.
No need to thank me for commenting. It was my pleasure.

Ha! The bird really makes this picture exotic! Not that I'd know where it was taken, but it's so bright and eye catching...such a site.

Interesting shot ;)
