I was in Rome in 1995. And wouldn't you know it, the Colosseum was closed the day we went to see it. Bummer! I like this partial shot with the trees and columns.
I like the angle here as well. I just was viewing your other shot and this one stands head and shoulder above. The lighting is working in your favor here!
"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
I've never seen a shot of the Colosseo from this angle, so thank you very much indeed! I should go and see it myself, but in the meantime, your picture is satisfying enough. You captured its majesty, but I also see a kind of fragility coming from its old age. It looks like the trees are protecting it. Great job if you got me thinking like this! :)

saw it on vb and scored high, really its gorgeous, very nice and creative the angle used for the shot, as it was hidden behind! lov it, congrats!:)) sorry for my delays, I´m yet without my pc, so it´s hard to get a connect somewhere... :((
"Imperfection is beauty; madness is genius & it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring. And when it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I'm really better than them."--Marilyn Monroe
Thank you for finding a non-traditional angle. That's a really hard thing to do with an iconic landmark that's been photographed millions of times. Lovely view.
