I wanted to try something a bit different, and I'm really interested in your opinions. Nay or Yay?

A Downy Woodpecker at the feeder on a cloudy and windy day. Used the canon IS USM zoom for this one.

Used photofiltre studio 9 and the canon software.

Thank you in advance for your comments and advice.

For me you are someone who knows how to frame. I prefer your framing as it always is or was. But why not trying to do it just like this frame. The post is great Tigs!! Mich

At first, I thought it was a baseball in the background...with gray stitching. LOL. Another fantastic birdie shot, Sandi.

It's a beautiful bird shot, Sandi. I think your idea is a good one to try out, but I'm not sure that this background is the right choice. I find too much competition between the square feeder and the round design. I may just be one of those who prefer the birds in a natural surroundings, but manipulatively, you did a great job of getting the subject isolated and it is a great shot. Maybe a little different background would work better or clone the design out and leave the brown as is because it sure would work as a very shallow dof.

It is good work Tigz. I think the background takes away from the natural look of your shots. I like them better in their true environment even if the background is blurred. Just my opinion.
