A handsome Cardinal sitting in the lilac tree.
I have not seen many of them yet and was thrilled that he sat long enough for a classic poise. Took this one this morning cold, and snow on the ground but sunny.
They are my favorite songbird.
Used my Canon 450D with the canon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens.

A fine specimen you've caught here Sandi - so beautiful with his breast full of the sun light. I wish you could see all the Cards I have this winter. In the bare tree behind my house at any given time there could be as many as six males with their various females around also. They look like Christmas tree lights sometimes! I wish I had a lens that could go as far as they are away..... Everything is so frozen around here this winter there is nothing for them to eat so they're eating me out of house and home! (I love it though....) Thank you for this beautiful desk top image....

The first thing I did was fave it Tigz. Secondly I pouted because I didn't take it and lastly it made me think of Mark McGwire who is controlling the sports news the last two days. Hopefully this Cardinal is not on Steroids. :)
