I took this image and did some different editing to bring you this one. I would like to know what your thoughts are, and thank you for commenting.

Richie is right this is actually a Yellow Shafted Flicker, and after looking it up, it seems like the names should be reversed. Lol!

The color is much richer and there is more contrast as well. I am glad that you cropped away the bottom which added little to this beautiful shot.

A pretty face is fine but what a farmer needs is a woman that can carry a pig under each arm

I like this cropped version much better as it places more focus on the bird. Sure do love it's colorings / markings ... a bit soft in areas though, but not bad in any way. I always think of birds as soft friendly creatures. I like how you caught bits of seed on it's sharp beak. Wonderful rework Sandi.

Much better balance with this crop, Sandi. I've never seen this live bird so I may be wrong. I like it a shade lighter overall.
I think that Green for the suet cage is right on, so I'm probably wrong.

I had no idea we had such colorful birds here in the USA. That is beautiful. What a great capture. This has to be a rare find, not something you see every day.

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

I think the cropping works very well. I am divided on the bolding of the colors. On one hand, I like the bolder colors on the new version, but I also like the natural softer colors on the original. Put me down as "resting on the fence!!" ~~ John

Hi Sandi......I love the capture of the Northern yellow shafted Flicker. I have them at my feeder and they seems to be skittish so your lens really paid off here.

I have looked at and examined both images of this beauty. I see this one as possibly over-processed, a bit much sharpening and the color boost doesn't reflect the real look of the Flicker IMO.

As I toggle between the images, image #1 represents the Flicker that I see in my backyard!

I certainly understand what you were attempting to do with this image, bring out the colors of the Flicker and accentuate the markings to demonstrate the beauty in the feathers and the awesome, neat colors.

My choice to go in the Main gallery would be the original image due to the uniqueness of the Flicker and your capture!

Thanks for sharing your 'feathered friend' with me!
