Another Red Bellied Woodpecker at the suet feeder.

I just finished reading about feeding the birdies in the winter time.

They mentioned that cereal, crackers, cooked rice, bread and the like is a good feed for them in the winter months, they don't have to work hard to get their much needed nutrients, and the value of the nutrients from that kind of food, has more value for them.

I put some raisen bran crunch out there for them, and they have been eating it, but not as much as I thought they might. Today they have lots of assorted old bread pieces along with their bird seed.

Thank you for commenting, I do value your friendship, and appreciate the advice.

Same lens, and converter combo, and held the lens right up to the closed window. I did a lot of cropping on this one.

Tigs♥ =^..^=

I have put up a feeder just like this but I can't get a Woody. :)

I can't even get a nuthatch or (Audubon forbid) a sparrow.

Another great shot Tigz.

The question is, with all these goodies to eat do they then become too fat to fly? LOL! Nice pretty image Sandi.

It looks like it is taking a break from eating, to listen to a call in the wild. LOL. Gorgeous shot again, Sandi.

What a great angle the bird is in! So cute and a superb shot Sandi! Crystal clear with gorgeous color! I feed our birds bread all year round. They always love it! That is if they get it before the squirrels do....lol

He's beautiful, Sandy. I like that your hanger is hung from a branch. Mine is on a hook. Thanks for that tip about what to feed them. The squirrels were getting more out of it today than the birds. I even got a new feeder. Lets see how long before the squirrels figure out how to get into it!

This woodpecker is posing for you perfectly ... wonderful detail / colors too. You may want to try unsalted peanuts in the shell to feed to the birds also ... Blue Jays love them. Superbly captured, Sandy.
