This female cardinal seems to have lost some of her goodies. :) Or more likely she is getting rid of the wrapper like suggested below.
The cardinal is among my favorite birds and I have found it very hard to get any captures of them, so I was so pleased to get some finally of them this morning.

The cardinals are really the prettiest of all birds to me. Sandi, your details are just wonderful and the color brilliant! Super outstanding capture!

I can attest to your excitement, Sandi. It is what I felt when that blue jay fortuitously landed in front of my lens! lol I love the cardinals too and look for the flash of red knowing the male and female are usually together, but they are stand-offish to be sure. Shooting birds this way is kind of a metaphor for hunting I think. You always want to get one more and you always want to get a different bird and you feel great when that happens. This is all from my personal view of it. Congrats on getting two fine captures of this lovely lady bird. I have kept them both. Fine work!
