The Northern Flicker - I'm starting to see more of a variety of birds at the feeder, the cold is setting in, and their looking for more food sources. I will keep my feeders stocked for them, and hopefully will continue to get more pics. of them. This is the first of my bird captures for the season, and I hope you enjoy.

Heavy cropping, used the canon T3i with the canon 70-200mm f/4L lens. I had the AV set as low as it would go, WB was set on Daylight, and used an ISO of 800, I did run it though a bit of noise removal as well.

Thank you for commenting.

A beautiful woodpecker shot. I've never seen Flickers in Michigan, but it probably just means I just haven't been out much.

Beautiful capture, well seen. The DOF is perfect. You even managed to get a catch light in his eye. Nice work.

Looks like you will be busy with the birds this winter Tigz. You will have to put a rocking chair by the window. Good one.

Have never seen such a bird Sandi. It's so beautiful that I really thought at first sight that this couldn't be a real one. Very fine post of this northern flickering redbelly woodpecker, lol.

Regards, Cornelius.

Since you are retired now, you will have time to set up your own bird sanctuary right in your yard. I bet you get a bunch of dandy shots this winter. This is a good start to the collection. Well done, Sandi.

Beautiful and in sharp focus. Your first capture is an indication of what is to follow Sandi and that is nice.

Great shot of the Flicker Sandi. I love the Western Flickers we get here, neat to watch them fly, they really do seem to flicker.

Despite high ISO speed the result is very good. Multicolored brurred background is great. I suppose there is something to prevent you from using better composition on the bottom. Maybe it's time to rearrange your feeders.

I guess we don't have that kind of bird here in Florida, at least I've never seen one~ I love his leopard spots and tiger stripes! Good clear shot! Although rearranging the bird feeders might be a good idea to be able to get more of the bird in these shots but very nicely done none-the-less :)
