My first posting from my trip today to EFRC, it is full days trip to get there, and back but so rewarding. We were greeted at the entrance by the little orange domestic cat Tom, and this big cat was the first we saw.
This wonderful place now houses about 230 big cats, lions, tigers, puma's, servals, and leopards.
Their goal is to rescue them from bad situations and let them live in a safe haven where they have a clean and spacious area.
One enclosure can cost about $20,000 dollars just to construct. They get lots of donations from local farmers (livestock that have died) it works for both the farmers, and the Joe the founder of EFRC.
This is not a fly by night operation at all, all keepers are well versed on how to handle the big cats, and the people on tours, one mistake could ruin it for everyone, mostly these big, beautiful cats, that have had terrible pasts, and now can live in a safe place, and be well taken care of, their enclosures are very spacious, I cannot say enough for this place, we call it cat camp, and is a favorite place for my friend Pat, and I to visit.
