The Clear Wing Hummingbird Moth-I have been waiting to see these unique moths at the Calendar gardens, and during my last visit I was surprised to see more than I did last year.

They are quick like a hummingbird, and can be found across the U.S.

Canon 40D (continuous shooting mode) f18 with the canon 70-300 IS USM lens.

Thank you for commenting, and I hope your weather is as beautiful today as it is here.

This is a humdinger of a shot, Tigz.

I've seen hummingbird moths in France and they were huge. Wonderful, clear image with great background.

Wow! That's a gorgeous action shot of an unusual moth. Settings and camera gear all pulled together for you on this one Sandi. I might add you were quite quick yourself to capture it.

Sandi - Nice close up of this moth. I had a few at the butterfly bushes the other day. My wife had not seen them before. Bright midday sun negated photo ops. Thanks for sharing this one. Thad

Great capture, I have yet to see one this summer. We get them in Northern Ontario also...their wings make a lot of noise when flying,so the first time I saw one, I really was unsure what it was lol.
