I spotted this female American Goldfinch last year at the Calendar gardens.

Used the zoom, as this was kind of a distance, and then cropped, lightened, and played around with it till I ended up with this result.

Thanks for the view, and comments.

Sandi, I don't understand why you've put this image in the 'manipulation' gallery. As far as I can read in your narrative, it got the usual editing. Think else that almost any posting can be qualified as manip.

Very good image to me. I enjoy it!

regards, Cornelius.

Beautiful shot and work on the finch Sandi. Someday I aspire to be able to take good bird photos as well. I think it entails a great deal of patience. There are so many beautiful birds here in Italy.

I like the texture you used Tigz.
Think you are wishing for Spring as much as the rest of us.
Wonderful work.

It great to see these type of photo's it lets me see the difference between birds in the UK and birds with similar names in other countries. This is a great looking capture and love the art effect you applied to this photo and the sunlight adds a nice feel to this sharp looking photo too.

This is so beautiful Sandi - the texturing worked well and the background works perfectly with the bird's coloring. I'm waiting for our goldfinches to show up - they like the birch directly outside our terrace.

Lovely capture of the Goldfinch Tigz, the texture effect given is of interest while not a distraction.
