Lovely shot, Sandi.If you were up close, or shooting with a tele lens, you might want to try a smaller aperture (Larger Number) to get a bit more depth. You can still get your background out of focus. There's a button on the left side/front of your 40D which when pressed, shows you your image depth for whatever setting you choose. You can always check your depth of field before you shoot.
