While enjoying my time at the Calendar Gardens yesterday, I spotted this healthy looking grasshopper munching on this plant.
I decided to play around with ISO settings, I used 500 (I usually use 400) for this one, I could see a bit of noise so ran it through a noise removal program, and I also cloned out some wayward plant stems, this was handheld, 190mm, and used the flash.

it looks great with munch detail and your noise reduction program did its trick.. i dont see anything in the background that would suggest you use a higher ISO..thats usually what happen to me..then again lots of wierd things happen to me i dont understand..lol!

People are like cameras--sometimes they lose focus.
Great close up Sandi - I like grasshoppers and most people ignore them. We see very few photos of them.

This looks like a winner Sandi. Great job with your editing skills. ISO 500 shouldn't have been much of a noise problem with your fine camera. That is one fine close up of that big old hopper.

Oh my goodness, Brilliant close up and detail, this is another in your face perfect capture with wonderful lighting and colours. In full you can see the super detail of the wings and the grasshopper doesn't look happy by the look in his eye
