They are such excellent 'fishermen'...They always seem to find the largest fish. I just love it when they crane their neck sideways and low to the water getting an eye to eye contact on their prey. Then it's over in a flash except for the juggling and the swallowing. I like the position of the bird and the habitat you captured him in. Good one Sandi.
Sandi, your title suggests that patience is required for it. And it will have so. Must be a hungry one by ignoring you this way because they are very shy too and any movement from your side will cause it fly away (temporary) . 'Pico Bello' (lol) picture.

This is one lovely fresh looking photography with beautiful colours and stunning presentation .Plus when you enlarge this photo the detail is superb along with the light in this photo too.
The heron seems to be not bothered by your presence, Sandi. Perhaps his meal is close by. Excellent capture & I love the layers created by the lily pads.
the master of fishery! i love watching these thing catch fish. you got some real nice clarity & color in this one Tigs..it seems i never can get close enough to these birds to get a good shot.
What fabulous colours and work, they sure are very patient and can move without making noise. Excellent capture with outstanding textures and reflection, bravo
