This handsome fella is Mufasa who has been in the care of the sanctuary since 2011.

Here is some information on him for you.

Mufasa joined Black Pine's family in June 2011. He was ordered by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to be moved due to concerns of escape from a cage that needed repairs. Mufasa's home at Black Pine is his third, having been born in captivity and kept as a pet, then rescued and housed at the facility that became too dilapidated to keep him safely. He has endured at least three surgeries over the years to address issues with teeth and bones in his jaw, riddled with infection for many years. These kinds of ailments, which can be treated by veterinarians, would result in certain death fora wild lion.

This shot was taken with the 40D and the canon 70-200mm f4/L lens:fstop 4.0, hand held, and shot through fencing.

I used photofiltre studio, and dynamic photo HDR 5 for the editing.

I have removed my post from yesterday of the leopard, I thank you for the comments on it, and faves, but saw all kinds of things in it that I did not like.

Thank you for commenting on this one of Mufasa, I believe he is about 18 years old now, and is one of the favorites at BP.

I want to dedicate this one to my good friend, and fellow agent SAM, and her 4 legged buddy Boris. May the lions roar be with you! :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Someone mentioned The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe recently and my first thought on seeing this was Aslan has arrived. He looks a little niggled here and definitely fierce! great capture Tigz.

Aslan, hereinafter referred to as Mufasa, is truly a majestic animal. Thanks, most humble thanks for this further addition to my collection exhibited on a wall in my apartment.

Great info for a great shot, Sandi. I love how the sunshine is bringing out all the details in his mane. You do a super job with shooting through the fencing. Not a trace of it on him in this picture. Excellent work all the way around.

Mufasa has had it tough it seems but maybe he can receive the care he needs now. He has a regal look about him and I like that you captured him with a pleasant expression. Good one Sandi. I liked your post of the leopard yesterday. There was something about its eyes that captivated you. Maybe you will post it again when you get it just like you like it.

The discussion has been agitated and extremely long:

The undersigned finally made up their minds choosing this hairstyle as shown in avie. Thus, Mufasa, go and visit nearest barbershop to resemble more your own old self.
