Monarch Release #2

Took this today under different lighting conditions. Yesterday I had very harsh lighting. So far this year my friend has released 15 Monarchs, and most have been males. Today she released last the 3 that were ready. She now has one more, and is going to start looking again for more eggs.

If you want to help the plight of the Monarchs, they need Milkweed, and you can plant in a small section of your garden, or scatter them about a little. I have some planted in 16 gallon tubs, but I don't think they will be ready this year.

Thank you for your comments, I do appreciate it, this was taken with the Nikkor 105mm, yesterday I used the 70-200mm.

Another great shot of the newborn Monarch clinging this time to the boy's finger.

Excellent portrait, Tigs. Even better than yesterday's. I just noticed that you got 2nd in the motion contest. I wonder who commented first on that image and whether that person thought you had a winner? It's things like that which keep me up nights.

That's a great project and I sure hope it proves successful...and this is a wonderful reason why and a marvellous shot.

Sandi, to me the boy has brought in perspective the size of the monarch. Excellent capture/portrait of an amazing phenomenon. Perfectly done per usual, my friend!

Such amazing detail and really like the facial expression on this fellow, in full I can see the feet of the butterfly wrapped around his finger
