I think this is a young'n, and he or she visits the area around the bird feeder early in the morning, or towards evening. Google explains that the raccoon will come at intervals to eat even the during the day. I see this cutie early or later in the day.

Yes it looks like a young one Sandi. He/She is looking for food - probably around your garbage bin. They can become a pest if you feed them.

Yes, they will sometimes come out during daylight hours...I have seen them down near my daughters' apt...they are so cute but like Raj said, can become a nuisance not to mention rather vicious when fighting amongst themselves...a good shot of this one.

A very good shot of the prowling racoon Sandi - we had one that would come to our patio sliding door because he was enamored of our cat Spudski who we lost in 1998. She was B&W with a mask-like face so maybe he thought she was also a racoon!

Had one of these fellows looking around the dumpsters the other day. They are a rather nasty critter and I gave it a wide berth. I should have pulled out my cell phone and captured it for eternity. Like you did. You are a braver (wo)man than I, (Mrs.) Gunga Din.

Sandi, I've read all the comments, but Kathy's comment in particular did me me smile. It's a 'rascal' anyhow, who can perfectly use the by humans given opportunities.

Think I mentioned how we had a raccoon stop by one early morning 4 -5 am and our cat was right at the glass of the patio door making loud Exorcist type noises! Although they (raccoons) can be cute, they are a huge vector for rabies, and there have been quite a few cases here lately of people becoming infected through their scratches or bites.

A good head on shot of this critter Sandi. Not especially fond of the clean up after they raid my garbage can sometimes. They are very clever and apparently pretty strong to get the lid of my can.
