Thursday I took advantage of the beautiful weather and did a short family photo shoot. This is Fran, and her 12 year old lab Chuckie. Fran's husband Jim belongs to a fly ball team that I'm the box loader for. He runs their two dogs Georgie, and Chuckie.

Jim informed us last Monday night that Chuckie has a large tumor inside the upper part of his mouth. They have learned it's cancerous, but now are waiting to learn of further test results.

I offered to do a family photo session as a gift, and they took me up on it. We did the shoot at the end of the day about an hour before sunset.

I have to say I fought tears when I was working on the pictures.

Jim texted us, and he bringing Chuckie to do a short flyball session this coming Monday. I will share one of them all as a family unit another day.

Jim and Fran suprised me with a nice gift of very good wine as a thank you.

Thank you for commenting.

Sandi, when I read your touching/emotional story, I fear that the medical outlook for Chuckie isn't good. I sincerely hope that I'm wrong.
In the case that I would be right, think that Fran and Jim at the longer term will be grateful that you've portrayed Chuckie and Fran.
A loving pair indeed.

Very good work, my friend!

Beautiful shot for your friends Sandi - I too fear the prognosis for Chuckie is not good given my family's experiences with cancer in dogs - but I hope for the best.

So very kind of you to take pictures of Fran and Chuckie - your narrative was so heartwarming that it brought me to tears - wishing Chuckie and family the best.

Your gift to them of capturing this beautiful scene is a gift that is more than a simple picture. This gives one constant joy when viewing. Fond memories are something to treasure, and your narrative here is sad to read, but also, with a warm message of caring for others.

Such a nice photo of your friend and her dog. Sad that the dog has that tumour. Hope that something can be done about it.
