Sandi, the heart of this dahlia to me is like the sun, while the petals symbolize the sun's rays. However, I hope it is a sunrise above a 'sunset photograph'. In that case we're able to enjoy it much longer.
The off-center position is a good choice. This makes this beautiful Foofy Friday (F²) contribution even more special than it already is.
