This is another from my sporadic antique series - it is Japanese from the period of 1891-1921. This piece stands 14" tall. The term "moriage" refers to the style of decoration involving the use of white slip paste as a decorative element. The background of the tankard is matte green and then the orchids are done in an enamel glaze and the item is fired. After that all the white decoration is applied to the handle, the base, the lip and outlining the leaves on the orchids. Absolutely everything is hand done and in Japan whole families were involved in decorating porcelain blanks. All comments and critiques appreciated.

If that were to be added to my collection of antiques, of which I am the only item, I wouldn't know where to put it. I don't have anything even close to being that fancy. Excellent shot, Kathy.

It's absolutely gorgeous, Kathy. I am learning from you about antiques. Anything handmade is so much finer than anything commercially produced because the artist(s) is in the creation. How much would it cost someone to buy one of these?

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun
