These are Columbian emeralds in their natural crystal formation. This was shot through a locked glass case at the Lizzardo Gem museum. 90% of the world's emeralds come from Columbia and they are considered the worlds best as well. I have a Columbian emerald ring I purchased at a gem show years ago and it was expensive then - I can imagine what it would be today with higher gold prices too!

Quite few years ago I bought an emerald ring for my wife. I remember that it wasn't cheap. They really shine beautifully here in your photo Kathy.

You sure that isn't chunky chives on a baked potato? lol. Those are beautiful, but fake emeralds are more my speed. Excellent shot, Kathy.

This is a beautiful specimen. Looks like the emerald crystals are embedded on albite with some kind of iron ore beneath. I'll bet this rock is worth a good deal. I love the deep color of green. Very nice one!

I have one that was my moms, but it does have a bit of cloudiness, but still is worth a nice chunk of change, and I will not part with it. This is very good taken through glass. tigs =^..^=

Very fine image of these emeralds embedded in a piece of rock Kathy. Don't see any reflections caused by the case of glass, so perfectly captured. Well done my friend.

Beautiful uncut emeralds Kathy - I'd love to have this rock! You did a super job photographing thru glass. I feel as though I can reach out and touch this precious gem (which, by the way is my favorite gemstone).
