Well I've become an outlaw this winter. Our condo does not allow bird feeders or feeding the birds. Our last two winters have been so bad I decided the h*** with that rule. There is a flock of various kinds of sparrows that live in the buckthorn trees in our courtyard here and this is a shot of them at my feeding plate. I have since upgraded to a larger dish and a premium food with hulled sunflowers seeds and chopped peanuts among other things. The higher protein food helps keep them warmer in our currently below zero temps. I now have two other neighbors here on the back courtyard that have joined me in feeding them. So these 50-60 sparrows now have a veritable smorgasbord to choose from!

It's really nice of you to feed the birds - I'll bet that they are truly enjoying this gourmet feast you left for them!!! Great shot of the sparrows Kathy - their plumage is more colorful than the sparrows in our area. Well Done!!! p.s. I won't be a stool pigeon. lol

It looks like the birds know where to find the food, and are probably grateful that you have now expanded the menu to the gourmet stuff! lol. They have to eat too, and I'm glad you buck the system and provide for them. Nice capture of them feasting on a cold Winter day.

As long as there are no serious complaints, it's wise that you are following the 'voice' of your heart Kathy. The sparrows will be grateful for that.

That is very kind of you Kathy. The news gets around fast and soon you will have a whole flock of sparrows there. Good shot of them. I think there is space for 4 more around the dish.

First off get your story straight for the authorities when they come knocking; you simply left a "pie" out on the balcony to cool down, it's not your fault the birds got into it.
