Found this growing by the side of a parking lot last week. I had seen it before at the Botanic Garden so I knew what it was. It was a very large stand of it perhaps 4 feet by 3 feet. You can see the flowers are similar in shape and form to sweet peas which are also in the same family. Here's some info from Wikipedia: Baptisia australis, commonly known as blue wild indigo or blue false indigo, is a flowering plant in the legume family . It is native to much of central and eastern North America and is particularly common in the Midwest, but it has also been introduced well beyond its natural range. Naturally it can be found growing wild at the borders of woods, along streams or in open meadows.
