Kristallnacht - The Night of Broken Glass. The night of November 9, 1938, on which the Nazis coordinated an attack on Jewish people and their property in Germany, Austria, and the Sudetenland. I felt it appropriate to post this picture today as my visit to this museum was quite moving. The building is in two parts - the dark part details the horrific acts perpetrated by the Nazis during WWII. The white part is the details of what came after WWII and the development of Israel. Out of the darkness and into the light. The two large towers represent the ovens of Auschwitz and other concentration camps. This is a very different and dark post for me but after last night's devastating election results it reflects my mood. That my country could elect such a man, as they did, depresses my spirit in untold ways.

It has a stark exterior that speaks of the camps for sure. Nice photo.

Kathy, this image remembers me my visit to the Yad Vashem museum in Jerusalem, Israel, about twenty years ago.
It was a very impressive visit, the more that the late parents of a friend of mine then were awarded/honored to the Righteous Among the Nations.
It's our duty to our children and grandchildren to keep alive what has happened in the Nazi time. Your touching image and narrative are very helpful to that.
Thanks, my friend!

Many years ago, the summer after high school graduation, I had the opportunity to spend two months in Europe with nine others of similar age and two adults. Among the many sights, seeing Dachau was like nothing else. After forty-eight years, I recall it as though it was yesterday. Humans' unthinkable inhumanity cannot be forgotten.

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine The Earth without art is just 'eh'.
