It's been a very stormy few days in the Chicago area. The storms at dinnertime tonight led to an unusual sunset for me to see - I'm not generally in an area where I can see nice sunsets. The silhouetted tree is the white birch outside my terrace with some catkins still hanging on and a really nice sunset even looking north as I do. Not my usual shot but I can take almost anything if the opportunity arises as it did tonight.

An 'after the storm' sunset can produce some really wonderful colors, such as you have here, and the reaching branches silhouetted against this sky are beautifully defined and well placed in the overall image...marvelous shot, Kathy.

A beautiful sunset sky , no longer ominous. Also the the tree branch in silhouette adds to the beauty of this photo Kathy.

Excellent sunset composition, Kathy. You've used in an optimal way the benefits of the weather conditions caused by the storms.
A beauty!

I remember those monster summer storms, and later around dusk such as this, the wetness still around and the quiet aftermath as the menacing clouds head off to rest. You capture that with this shot.

I really like your angle here, the isolated silhouette has an air of majesty and mystery. It could be anywhere, and that makes it art. There's no hint of the city, or the clutter that comes with it. Just a single, lone entity, trying to survive in a harsh world. Something many of us can relate to. This is glorious and soothing in it's beauty.
