One of the darkest flowers I've seen on lavender with those trademark ears on top of the bract. A newer cultivar I believe.

Kathy, we have similar French lavender species. Their shape may be different from the traditional ones, but their strong fragrance is the same. Some people cut the flowers, than they are dried, and are placed in the linen cupboard, whether or not in a bunch. I don't know if this use is also applied in other countries.
