It's generally past the dahlia season but I saw this one in someone's yard last week and got permission to take a shot. It was getting a little raggedy around the edges but was still a beauty in color and form.
If you think you can't accept something, try to change it. But if this doesn't work, don't be frustrated, but give it later another try. The one who perseveres wins!

You were right to do so, Kathy; that virtual explosion of color took my mind and eye off any thought of the fall condition of the blossom. Here in North Dakota we have quite similar weather and temps--more often than not into the 'teens at night--as does Chicago, but I haven't had time to check to see what's happening with flowers here... so I'm glad you have an eye for them.
