Blooming now through mid September. Those berries, which are just starting to color, will eventually be a very deep scarlet color. This is a perennial shrub about 1-3 feet high and a foot wide.
A well know plant in my area, Kathy. St. John's Wort had been used here in folk medicines, but, as far as I know, due to negative publications it isn't used for this purpose anymore. Here it's only used in professionally produced medicines. However, St. John's wort can adversely affect the effect of other medicines. In my country, therefore, it has been mandatory since November 2001 to include a text warning about the effects on medication on packaging containing St. John's wort.
If you think you can't accept something, try to change it. But if this doesn't work, don't be frustrated, but give it later another try. The one who perseveres wins!

I like them and I do think this photos is lovely expecially the contrasting yellow and orange . . . . but they are a nuisance in my garden. I have about 8 that are meant to be there but new ones keep popping up. It is sold as a health supplement in NZ. The bees really love the blossoms and when the seed pods dry in the winter they rustle beautifully in the wind.
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

A very fine capture, however.
