Early this summer this adult male Black bear decided to take a shortcut thru my backyard, I told him I didn’t care for this behavior. Needless to say he didn’t want to hear it. What I did notice was that he did not have a tag. A lot of the time a tag is visible in one of his ears, it just means that wildlife officials has not counted this one. Two tags mean that he has gotten into trouble. You can tell the male because they have a larger head and a shorter neck compared to a female which is also considerably smaller in size. I would have to say that this fellow is in the 500lb range. A younger male could also be easily identified because they tend to have long legs and a longer neck; they look this way only because they just didn’t fill out yet. Thanks for stopping by.

Looks like he is headed for the woods where the age old question will be answered.
He's a biggun, Joe.

This makes for a good photo opt, but could be harmful to pets. In my area we have no worry about these big guys. Tigs♥ =^..^=

He must have forgotten long time ago the time when his weight ranged around 500 lb... LOL
He looks nearer to 1 tonne, OK, 500 but kg.
Doug's and Bob's comments made me laugh.
Seriously this is either honey bees or some female teddy bear. HOWGH.

Oh my, it'd be an indoor day for me! I'm not sure what's worse, not tagged or double tagged, lol. Be careful out there getting these great images.

Thanks for all the comments. They generally don’t want anything to do with humans; this old boy was looking for a female companion. Oh and there is no one raising honey bees in the close vicinity.

I don't know... he looks like a tough customer, Joe. I'd be inside trying to fit the zoom lens on my camera before the bear wandered away. Great image of him! The summer of 2012 a young male black bear, probably looking for females, swam the Cape Cod Canal and walked from the upper part of the Cape all the way to the tip of the peninsula in Provincetown. Without a human-bear incident, though he was seen by a lot of people. There hadn't been a bear here since Colonial times in the 1700's. He was scooped up and sent on his way to a less populated part of the state.
