Took this during a 10 hour, 11 mile hike on Mt. Katahdin in Maine. I got inspired by a terrible picture hanging in every business or home in Millnockett Maine of a book hanging over the edge of Katahdin, the picture was framed terribly and it bothered me for the longest time. So this is basically a one shot deal, no variations; i got lucky. Enjoy

This had the potential to be a beautiful image, but the shoes ruin it. it could have also used a bit more color saturation to make the image 'pop'.

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)

Good for you! You made it! I expect you will remember the view forever. Did you feel good?

Long hike, after 11 miles you can feel the skin on your feet move everywhich way.
I have enhanced this picture before but i prefer to upload only untouched pictures. I'll upload one without my feet sometime for all those interested in just zee view., Oh yea. And it did feel good.

I think your feet absolutely MAKE this picture! Even the thumbnail gives me the willies in the pit of my stomach. The full-size image is SCARY AS ____! If that's the effect you wanted, you've succeeded gloriously.

The saturation and/or the light - dark needs some tinkering, no big deal.

I personally like it with the feet. It makes you consider what it must have felt like to be there. Clever title by the way! I took a similar shot in Arizona but it didnt come out as daunting as this. I think it's excellent! Makes me want to go hiking!

Yikers! This looks scary if you think the person was standing - gulp! That is quite a gorgeous view. The craggy rocks jutting out ad more visual interest. This is a stunning sight that is fine without the extra color saturation..but that's me :) Why don't you take this picture to those business folks and see if they'll put it up instead of the boring book picture? Wonderful image Mike :^*>

I need to catch up on things so can't comment too much. But I love all of your fine images. I might be lurking in the background :)

I'm with those who say the feet make this picture! This isn't so much a landscape shot as a story about a Mountain and a climber . . . Inspiring shot! Wen

Oh my goodness you are a braver person than me to sit so close to that edge,, I almost edged back when I saw it :) I think the feet really make me feel as though I am looking at it through my own eyes, so I dont mind them being there. Thats one hell of a view though, and well worth the hike.
