I took this while I was walking down the beach one evening during a recent trip to Clearwater Florida. Just a random sea sponge washed up on the beach. I took many different pictures of this but I think this one turned out to be the best of them all.

A nice close up shot. Like the soft tone of the background.

I like this one - muted tones make the sponge stand out a little more. Hint of rose in the right side of the image makes they eye flow left to right. Nice photo.

Bet you got wet taking it!!

this would be so much better if the horizon was level. Otherwise, nice concept and good take. Good use of DoF.

There are several programs that can level a picture, I believe picas is a free one that will do it.

It's a good thing you told us what it was! At a glance at the small pic in your gallery I thought it was... ahem.. something entirely different, lol! But now that I got a closer look it's a pretty cool shot and I like the perspective. The horizon's not off by much, I didn't notice that. I tried to do a shell with this perspective, it's not as easy as you would expect! I did several of the shell too~ never got it quite right. I couldn't look in the lens without getting my cheek all sandy!

Yea I walked up to it like that. And set my camera just above the sand and hoped for the best. I don't take shots for perfection. I take them how I see them and not how everyone expects to see them. If everything was about the perfect shot I'd stop what I'm doing. Perfect takes away from all things natural. I edit when I see fit. But I'm glad you liked the shot. Thank you.
