He didn't seem to mind so much when I was in single shot mode, but got rather upset by the sound of the camera when I put it in burst mode. He flew off and circled around a few times and then came back. I was still able to get quite a few shots of him.

You got more than just "him" ... looks like you got "her" as well. I could be wrong but that looks like a female below "him". I'm sure you were focusing on capturing the finches but I think you wound up with an overall nicely composed image. The birds and what look like thistle reeds standout clearly against the soft focused background. Nice pic!

Just an old "Grampa" who still has a Kodak "Box" camera kicking around the attic ... learning and enjoying the wonders of modern digital photography.

yes, you're right, John. That is her right behind him. She didn't care that I was there at all. He got a little antsie when I started shooting and got a little upset when I put the camera into burst mode. I was so excited to be able to get that close without scaring them off, I just wish I would have remembered to take my time and compose the picture.
