For my satisfaction

I posted another version of this yesterday. It was a bit too dark for my taste, but it seemed to go over well. I'm posting this for my own satisfaction of knowing that I at least posted one that wasn't too dark. I wouldn't mind some feedback on which one is the better of the two though.

Now I have to trudge all the way back over to see that other beauty that I liked so well yesterday. Ah! The things I do for my friends..lol...I like this one better...you're right. It is easier to see, but I have the other one on my hard drive.

i liked the first one better. the light was more subtle. this one looks too much "in your face" kind of pic. stick with your instincts rob. those idiots on that other site wouldn't know a pretty picture of a plant if they saw one.(which is what you showed them) they would only like it if it was being devoured by a bug or pollinated by a bee. you nailed it the first time.

YES, I like this one more... I can see more detail, and the heightened contrast gives this one more similarity to NG images. Now, just sharpen it and add a little glow filter, and you're set!!! :) Just kidding. But for my own use I'd sharpen it.... :) nice.

I like them both - but this one most. The voting index would seem to say most people do too. It is a superb picture - colours and lighting are great and the flower seems to pop out of my monitor. It would not look right being 'devoured by a bug' or 'pollinated by a bee' as previously mentioned - athough some flowers lend themselves to that sort of depiction very well. This orchid is far to elegant and sophisticated for that - or at least to be seen having that done to it.
Exceptional work and the 'other site' members must be daft.(or blind)

This is wonderful, especially the lighting. Both flowers are so clear too, which is not always easy to accomplish. I think this one went over big and if I have to choose, it is this one I prefer.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

No, I like the first one better. That lighting complemented the subtle colours of the orchid. This is harsher - to me at any rate!

Rob...I like both of them personally. I guess it is the eye of person looking at them. The first one is almost like a silhouette while,as you said, this one has more light which gives the flower luminance...I find them both very well done...gerry

Gorgeous capture. I prefer this one, I like the lighting and the detail in the petals is more prominent. Great job! Diane
