It's Cold!

One morning a few days ago, when it was below zero and even colder with wind chills (-30), my daring sweetheart wanted me to see the mist rising off of the river so we literally ran out to the bridge for a few shots and back to the car before our faces froze. We were hoping to get sunrise colors in the mist, but we were too late. I was fascinated by the geese who were frosted over, though! If you need a reminder of how cold this winter has been, this is for you! It's misty, not blurry.

Amazing shot Hilda. They all look like they are floating on the foggy mist. Neat.

Most of the time we see shots like this taken in nice sunlit conditions. This truly depicts that it is not always so comfortable. Nice find and timely capture Hilda. Thanks.

~ This is really wonderful...I really couldn't tell it was cold though...it could be any misty day. The shot looks really cool & eerie, like they are floating in the mist like Stan said. Great shot Hilda, thanks for sharing!

What a great shot Hilda! I guess the water wasn't rollin' of their backs quick enough for this weather! How adventurous of you to brave the elements and risk losing your noses! LOL!

Marvelous Hilda! What a beautiful shot of the fine feathered friends. It almost seems like they're sitting on clouds cause of all that mist!

Brrrrr...I bet they wished they hadn't flown in quite so early! I feel sorry for that one on the right trying to keep his beak warm.

Great find and it makes for a fascinating upload!

Having worked on assignment as a reach truck driver in a food cold store -25c I'd go for a break when my jaw went numb. :o( I have nothing but sympathy for any wildlife left in those conditions often without food or water. Do I like the image ? I don't know Hilda but real photography is simply about capturing a truthful image. :o)

Goodness, those geese appear to be frozen right to the spot.
I'm sure they know how to keep themselves warm, but that sure looked like an exceptionally cold day.

What a fantastic capture, Hilda. It so sums up a winter's early morning so well. Snoopy once said in Peanuts that he could never be a cat as he couldn't eat a cold mouse on a foggy morning. Does the same hold with geese, I wonder?
