Castle Batenburg lay on the River The Waal in the country Gelderland. Historie. A ruins of probable 12e-century castle. The firstly well-known occupants were the lords of Batenburg. After several destructions the castle has been built by the lords of Horne. Beginning 1700 is the lord of Bentheim owner, without living there himself. In 1794, it is it was devastated by the french, whereupon the decline entered. Now rests still share of the gate building, the ring wall and of the round towers, the Bronkhorster-tower.

Nice photo. I especially like the way you captured the vegetation growing on the ruins. Mother Nature claiming her own. The place has had quite an amazing history. Thank you for sharing this with us.
