This old Mill and drawbridge lies in a old small town (Heusden). They call it a fortified town. The first building are from the 13th century. The mill is a Standermill( Dutch). History: A fortified town a military justifiable city, on a strategic place to a border has been been due or a meeting point of important country - or water ways.

The draw bridge looks so small here compared ot the windmill. Hardly looks wide enough for anything to pass though ;) Love the clarity and composition and so glad to see the draw bridge going up. Very well done and thanks for sharing this one Wil.

Anita, the bridge and mill pre dates the eara of cars, the small bridge was made for foot or small horse and carriages realy.

I like the image very much, can't remember or i have ever been here, but it certanly looks a historic place and worth a visit, thank you for sharing this one, i like it a lot.

Indeed, isn't a bridge for cars, it's to small. I think that this is built in the 16th or 17th century? I cannot find it how old this is.
Thanks for your comments.

Well, this is certainly interesting. What a drawbridge. I'm trying to figure out how that works. And the mill,...I would love tog et inside of there and see the "workings". This is a very nice , sharp and colorful capture.
