This picture is very close cropped, presumably to allow the statue in the darkened centre of the building to be more obvious. I dont think it concentrates quite enough for this to work, and it has rather ruined the picture as an architectural one of the memorial. There is an interesting banding moving up through the picture, stone, hedge, memorial dome and sky but I don't think that is quite enough to make this picture.
I agree with crysophilax. I think you cropped it too far on each side. On the other hand, it does have a nice angle to view the statue because you can see its silhouette.
I think that in this picture is more then a cropped edges. I think author was trying to show us that Jefferson is standing there alone in the dark, as one lonely American president who doesnt get enought attention from US citizens.
