Pretend you have infinite control over this shot. Depth of field, focal point, lighting, and even the arrangement of the gears completely up to you. What would you do? I would love some ideas to help me make a few more creative shots of these gears.

These are gears and the armature from the inside of a broken battery powered drill. All that you see here and more fit easily in the palm of the hand.

This makes for a very good capture. I think it would make a great contest entry.

That is absolutely fascinating. Just looking at it makes me wonder what it is, and want to explore inside with a mini camera to see how it works. Love it!

Had I been in control of this photo I would have totally messed things up. A good closeup of the gears with very nice focus work and clarity. A creative idea.

The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

This has to be viewed full screen to reap the benefit of your intensely accurate, selective focus. I would have messed it up too. In fact, the shot would never have occured to me since I don't mess with power tools. lol

Very interesting shot. I do not know a single thing about taking photos but I can tell you it definitely caught my eye. If I had control of the shot I would remove or tilt out of view the field winding. The gears alone Induce mans ingenuity, but for some reason the field winding just do not seem to fit. My opinion anyway.

Good work with the selective focus (I hope you played with the manual focus). Very good clarity and a nice use of light. I'm out of ideas though
