Hi there and welcome to Caedes. I've been here a few months - and have learned a lot, so I hope you will feel the same too and realise how worthwhile it is being here.
Well, My photo "Who ate my dinner" does indeed show a house sparrow and I am one of the lucky ones, living in NW Scotland, who has loads and loads of them! This was taken with a narrow depth of field so that the background would be out of focus, deliberately. I also embossed the edges just to blur it a little and keep the focus on the sparrow. Poor thing was moulting - but they are all in breeding form now and looking great! This was not taken with flash, but only with my Nikon D50 lens 55-200 - set on 200mm, the full exptent of the telephoto.
Hope this answers your query!
Enjoy your time here - I look forward to seeing your work. Kate
Hello Phil
Thanks so much for your very kind comments on my thrush photo. This was also taken with the 200mm lens, when I was halfway across an empty road, sneaking up on him! He was singing his heart out, so just ignored me! He has mated up now, so is in hiding. We are lucky here in getting lots of birds around our house - mind you, we do spoil them with cherries and grapes along with ground food! Thanks again, Kate
Hey there Mister Madman, wat'cha know that I don't know
Tell me some crazy stories, let me know who runs this show
Glassy-eyed and laughing, he turns and walks away
Tell me what made you that way
Hi Phil, nice to meet you:) thanks for your kind comment on "Meditation"..I was going for sort of a serene yet mystical feel so I'm so sorry it scared you..lol
The boat to the left you asked about is for...well..do you dare??:)
Hi Phil, thanks for the comments on Barren Biarritz and From the Darkness. I'm not sure what gallery it should be in (I stuck it in shorelines) but I'm glad you liked it enough to stick in your favorites. I have another with a tree and the milky way, but processing it makes the stars fade too much.
Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb. - Churchill
Hi Phil
Thanks so much for your compliments on my Prague shot. Great place, rather cold in winter! About my bird shots? You are a poppet - there are soooo many good bird photographers here - BUT as soon as the sun shines *when I am at home* I will take some more. I have some nesting in a wall near my back door... so... with a bit of luck and patience I will take some action shots soon! Kate
Hi Phil
Luckily I only had to walk about 20 paces! I took the greenfinches on some young alder trees near to the west side of my house! Glad you like them - they are in full colour now and well paired up! Kate
morning phil.thanks for your comments on "austerity".the sun has not yet illuminated my future as it's blanketed by the maroon block.just give me time and i'll shine for you!!
Hi Phil! Re Bluegrass? There's very few music types I don't like - I had a very early intro to music as a youngster, so it's always been a part of my life. Only two kinds I hate? One is Scottish 'country' 'folk' dance-music - and the other is modern Country & Western! lol. Give me anything else from anywhere in the world and I'll be happy! Kate
Thanks for your comment on Did you go to Rally School??? The beuty of Knockhill Race Circuit is that it is not spoilt by high fences. I was no more than 15 to 20 feet away.
Thanks for your comment on Baloon Dance Rework. It wasnt that good of a rework...My first one. I didnt know how to submit pics yet and everything so the quality is very poor, but i have a few more in the works and i read up on how to submit them this time. so be on the look out.
Thank you so very much for your lovely comment about Sky Dock. I appreciate your stopping by my gallery. It has been some time since I have uploaded anything, I guess I should remedy that. Sky Dock was my very first upload to Caedes and it is still my favorite. Thanks again, Carrie
Ha,Ha..:))..!No,Phil,it isn't in Romania ,my"stone house"..I took this shot in Amboise,France..!..I was astounded..:it was build in the stone wall of ancient fortified town..Thanks for visiting my gallery!...I really appreciate it!....keep smiling!..:))

Thanks for the comments on Canoe. to answer your question...if I go out with the intent of taking picutres, I will bring my tripod. That day we were working to maintain the trails and I just brought the camera along as a 'just in case' kind of thing. Glad you liked it.

If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
Hello Phil. Thank you for your comments and query about “Look out Below”. I’m not aware of any relationship between Storks and Ibis. I think that all Storks have straight beaks and all Ibis have curved ones. So I would think not. PS: I like the goofy look of this shot too. The wind was blowing him in all directions as he was landing on his nest.
thanx Phil for your lovely words on 'soft' and it is cramped because I like it that way so you can see every detail of the butterfly, that is why....lol...
I sure do love duckies just like you-there is a lake that I walk around sometimes that has tons of ducks, and they are just so fascinating! I could watch them for hours!

Hello Phil. Thank you for your comments about “A Pair of Pitts”. Yes I think we are lucky with the weather over here. Especially when I remember the chilblains that came with the English winter :-)
Hi Phil, thanks for stopping by and commenting on "A Dozen makes mama busy" I never did see daddy and went back there a couple of weeks later and looked for these cuties but never did find them.
I'm glad you enjoyed the post. ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ :)sandi ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫
Hi, Phil....I want to thank you much for taking the time to weigh in on "Apo-Opal Raw!" I haven't had much time to peruse this site of late, but you'll likely be hearing more from me as well. So glad to meet ya! Wen
Hi Phil, and many thanks for commenting on my pic, "in less than a heartbeat." I did no manips on the image except for cropping.... and it was an intentional blur, which sometimes can render very interesting results. :-)))
